The Future of the UOA Epsom Campus Land

You will be aware that the University is no longer operating at the Epsom Campus. This development has been long signaled as part of the University’s plan to consolidate its operations in the city, Grafton, and Khyber Pass.

At the same time, there is considerable interest in how this land will be used in the future. Over the last five years I have been meeting with the University leadership and other relevant parties.

I think it is a good time for a community meeting about the site’s future, so I’ve invited the UoA and other stakeholders to update the local community. The purpose of the meeting will be to hear what the different parties intend for the land, and what the legal framework for its use is.

The University will make a presentation, and other stakeholders include Ngati Whatua, Auckland Normal Intermediate and Kohia Terrace School, Te Puna Kōhungahunga and the other neighbouring schools, Epsom Girls and Auckland Grammar the Albert-Eden Local Board and local Councillors.

While I have endeavored to let as many residents know about this meeting, please pass on the details so that we have a good representative meeting. I can appreciate a Friday night is not the best time of the week, but there has been some juggling to include all stakeholders.
