I hope you’ve been able to enjoy the summer. As the season turns and the leaves fall, more and more people will be turning their minds to election year.
My political thinking always starts in the Epsom Electorate, and I’ll be running more street corner meetings this autumn. Street Corner Meetings are an old-fashioned form of local democracy. If you haven’t been to one before, they are an opportunity to share your concerns with me as your local MP.
The format is simple. For a few minutes I explain how I’m seeking to represent you, then open up to your questions, comments, and ideas. Each meeting takes about 25 minutes before I move to a new corner.
As the Parliamentary term nears its conclusion, I’ll be grateful to hear how you think the Government is doing. What do you support, where would you like us to take a different tack? From experience, I know people will share concerns I need to hear, often for the first time at a Street Corner Meeting.
I’ve been heartened by the number of students and young people showing up. The meetings are for everyone who lives, works, or studies in the Epsom Electorate, so please don’t hesitate to come along.
Maybe public political meetings aren’t your thing? Regardless, I am always here for you as your local MP. If you ever feel that I may be able to assist with a Government-related problem, or you’d just like to share your opinion with me as your representative, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
